Trading Chevy Truck Parts for Electric Volts |

Another car update in the fuel crunch. The Chevy Volt has not been released to the public yet but GM has just announced that they plan to produce 10,000 Volts in 2011 and 60,000 by 2012. This is an obvious push away from standard gas vehicles to a more fuel minded car.
You will probably not hear this news in any other Chevy truck forum but I thought it was important in forecasting the future of Chevrolet. The news was first broke by the Detroit Free Press after receiving an email about the plan by Gm’s VP, Bob Lutz.
The Volt is on schedule to hit showrooms in November 2010 for around 40,000 dollars. Hybrid electric vehicles are generally less expensive then 40,000 dollars so expect a vehicle that has quality parts and possibly even better fuel economy then seen with today’s Prius. I think Chevy truck parts will soon follow suit and begin to include more electric charging parts. Keep on trucking.
